Monogram Foods Solutions LLC plans to acquire the meat snack division of American Foods Group LLC.
Monogram chairman Karl Schledwitz confirmed the deal in an Associated Press story.
The deal includes a production facility in Martinsville, Va., where Monogram will invest $3 million to expand production capacity, Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine said in a release Thursday.
Monogram will add 120 jobs as part of the expansion.
As part of the deal with Green Bay, Wis.-based American Foods Group, Monogram will gain the rights to AFG’s Bull's, Hannah's, O'Brien's and Dakota brand names, Kaine said.
Monogram had not released a statement and Schledwitz did not immediately respond to a request for further details.
American Foods Group is among the largest food processors in the country and one of the top three meat processors with over 4,000 employees.
"The Martinsville production facility will be a good addition to our current production facilities located in Minnesota and Indiana," Schledwitz was quoted as saying in the Virginia governor’s release. “This purchase, like our other acquisitions this year, will enhance both our production capacity and our leadership in offering top-quality regional and nationally distributed meat products and brands that retailers and customers know and trust. Virginia was a great fit for the project and we look forward to success in the Commonwealth."
This acquisition follows the purchase of Al Pete Meats' business, the Pete's Pride brand name, and its production facility in Muncie, Ind., in May.
