Emirates inflight catering serves up another award win PDF Print E-mail

Emirates' inflight catering has taken home the coveted 'Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier Middle East 2009' award for the second year running, cementing the airline's position as a global leader in inflight catering.
Honoured at the PAX International Readership Awards, Emirates was presented with the award for its uncompromising commitment to quality. This achievement closely follows the recent Caterer Middle East Awards 2009 where the Emirates inflight catering team took out the 'Kitchen Team of the Year' award, recognising excellent teamwork in a kitchen workforce.

Robin Padgett, Vice President Aircraft Catering said:
"These awards highlight Emirates' ability to produce a huge volume of freshly prepared meals to exacting standards, whilst working under tight deadlines. On average we produce around 80,000 meals per day within our specially designed and dedicated inflight catering facility here in Dubai. Following the highest food safety practices, we believe that we offer our customers the world's best inflight catering, a belief that is backed up by the numerous international awards we have won for our food service in recent years."

"We are honoured to have been selected for these two prestigious awards in such quick succession and are confident that our inflight catering service will continue to set the standards for inflight food service across the world," he added.

Opened in July 2007, Emirates dedicated inflight catering facility is the most modern and largest of its kind in the world, with a design capacity of 115,000 meals per day. Costing $120m to build the facility is equipped with the latest in food safety and hygiene management raising the bar for inflight catering facilities around the world.

"Emirates' inflight product highlights the major advancements that the industry has made in recent years. Combining our award-winning cuisine and highly trained, multicultural cabin crew with our cutting-edge inflight entertainment 'ice' system gives Emirates a hugely distinctive and compelling product and a major advantage over our competitors," added Padgett.

Emirates' acclaimed menus are developed with the facility's highly trained chefs, many of whom have worked in some of the world's leading gastronomic restaurants. With their vast experience and knowledge, Emirates' team of food experts have created a range of menus tailored to meet the regional preferences of travellers.

On July 31st this year Emirates inflight catering facility produced a record 88,792 meals in one day...http://www.ameinfo.com
