Rimini, 22nd January 2009 - Yesterday evening the curtain fell on the 30th SIGEP, International Exhibition of Artisan Gelato, Confectionery and Bakery Production, after five days of exhibiting that once more confirmed the event as the sector's world leader.
Inaugurated on Saturday 17th by Alberto Ravaioli, the mayor of Rimini and Rimini Fiera chairman Lorenzo Cagnoni, who read a message of best wishes for the entire trade from the Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Adolfo Urso, SIGEP occupied all 16 halls of the Rimini expo centre: 90,000 m2 of expo space in which approximately 750 companies exhibited. On show, the entire artisan confectionery chain, in all its productive, creative and commercial aspects: machinery, ingredients, décor & fittings, accessories, decorations, services, publishing and communication.
VISITORS - SIGEP's 30th anniversary edition ended after being attended by 92,732 trade members (2.8% less than 2008). Foreign visitors totalled 16,109 (3.5% more than 2008), from over 150 nations. A very important success, considering the current economic situation, with a substantial growth from numerous foreign markets. Among companies' comments, there was appreciation for the commitment to activities for visitor qualification, which attracted qualified trade members really looking to buy at SIGEP. There was also excellent media feedback: at SIGEP there were 464 accredited journalists, of whom 136 were from abroad. The major television networks gave the expo massive coverage, as did the generalist and specialist press.
